Director of the AHRQ funded Intermountain Consortium for Child Health Research. Director of the Utah Pediatric Practice Based Research Network which conducts research projects in pediatric offices and clinics in Utah. The network has completed projects evaluating a primary care approach to urticaria, the practice of alternating ibuprofen and acetaminophen to treat fever and the use of a low glycemic index diet in the treatment of obesity. Dr. Young is part of a team of doctors developing a project for treating obesity among the Latino population of Salt Lake based on the low glycemic index diet and a motivational exercise program.
