Dr. Hindert has been medical director since 1986 of the Children’s Center, a community mental health center for young children, specializing in trauma informed care. She has trained mental health professionals, primary care providers, and child welfare workers in learning collaboratives throughout Utah to improve the quality of care for children struggling with mental health disorders. During the past 20 years, she has overseen local, state, and federal initiatives to bring evidence-based treatments to Utah communities for children who have experienced traumatic events, including children in the foster care system. She has worked with the Utah Department of Health to improve quality of care and increase appropriate prescribing of psychiatric medicine for children covered by Medicaid.
