Description: Mutual support groups whose members are individuals who have a substance use disorder or any of a number of behavioral addictions which are akin to substance-related disorders in clinical expression, brain origin, comorbidity, physiology and treatment. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; provide emotional support, information and resources to help those who participate modify their behavior; and may include faith-based and secular 12-step groups as well as non-12 step groups. Eligibility: All applicants must have a Substance Abuse/Dependence diagnosis from a Licensed Addiction Counselor, must be Medicaid/Food Stamp/TANF eligible, and/or have a mental health diagnosis. The applicant must have custody of, or relatively immediate plans for reunification with, their children. Individuals must complete an admission application and return it to Carole Graham Home. Applications are reviewed and staffed as a team. Once an applicant is accepted, she is put on a wait list for the next available bed. Actual placement into Carole Graham Home is determined by the level of motivation of the applicant and on a “needs” basis.
Services Provided: The Carole Graham Home is a 24-hour residential program for substance abusing pregnant and/or parentingwomen and their children. The goal of Carole Graham Home is to provide a safe, supportive, and structured environment to assist women in addressing their recovery from drugs/alcohol and mental health issues,leading to self-sufficiency. The Carole Graham Home is able to serve women and their children up to the age of 12. The residents are involved in chemical dependency treatment and re-unification with their children. The length of stay at Carole Graham Home is variable. Women come into the program at different stages of recovery and motivation. The residents are involved in an Intensive Outpatient program off-site, attending group 12 hours each week, as well as a weekly one-on-one session with their Intensive Outpatient counselor. The program offers life skills services, parenting classes, case management services, and access to a wide variety of community resources.
