Mutual support groups whose members are people who have specific disabilities, illnesses or other health conditions, their families and friends. The groups meet in-person, by telephone or via the Internet; and provide an opportunity for participants to share information, resources, practical tips for daily living and encouragement about issues related to the disability or health problem. Eligibility: Disabled persons (stroke, head injury, amputation, etc.). Must be referred to the program by attending physician. Services available to residents in Missoula and surrounding areas. Will accept referrals statewide.
Services Provided: Evaluate disabled persons ability to safely drive a car. Evaluates disabled driver for ability to see, react, make good decisions, and handle city, county, and highway driving. Recommends specific driver training &/or special equipment to assist. Must already have a current drivers license or current learner's permit. Additional Info: Provides I&R regarding types of special equipment, where to purchase and persons who install equipment. Will train on used of specialized equipment. *Fees may be paid in whole or part by a private insurance company, Workers Compensation, and Vocational Rehabilitation. Medicaid and Medicare will not cover fees. Must be referred by attending physician.
